As a Cleveland wedding photographer, I get the privilege of traveling to some truly hidden gems. Crossing the state line into Aliquippa, PA, to capture Alyvia and Brandon’s wedding at Shermichael Woods was an experience I won’t soon forget.
There is a specific kind of magic that happens when a couple leans into the feeling of their day rather than just the schedule. From the quiet, tearful glances to the high-energy celebrations under the tent, Alyvia and Brandon’s wedding was a perfect example of authentic love and joy.

Shermichael Woods provided the perfect backdrop for this late-May celebration. With its towering trees and secluded feel, it offered a sense of intimacy that matched the couple’s energy perfectly. Whether we were lost in the lush greenery for portraits or celebrating under the glow of their reception tent, the venue felt like a private sanctuary for their love story.

The ceremony was a beautiful testament to their journey, but it was during their portrait session that the world seemed to stop. The way the sun filtered through the trees, catching the intricate lace of Alyvia’s gown and the way Brandon looked at her, it was effortless.

That “just married” glow isn’t just a cliché; it was radiating off them. Every kiss and every embrace felt like they were the only two people in the woods.

If you want to know what true friendship looks like, look at Brandon and his groomsmen. One of my favorite shots of the day is the black-and-white candid of the guys, completely unposed, full of laughter, and physical brotherhood.

That energy carried right into the reception. Alyvia and Brandon didn’t hold back during the cake cutting! Watching them feed each other cake with genuine, messy laughter (and a little bit of frosting on the nose) reminded me why I love candid wedding photography. These are the moments that feel like “home” when you look back at your album decades later.

The reception was a whirlwind of sentiment. There were proud parents with tears in their eyes, heartfelt toasts that had the whole room laughing, and a first dance that ended in a show-stopping dip.

But it wasn’t just the “big” moments. It was the way Brandon wiped a stray tear during a dance with his mother, and the way Alyvia’s smile never dimmed for a single second. It was a day built on a foundation of deep, resonant love.
